Venus Netball Club was formed in January 2006 by three players who had been unable to find a local netball club.
In September, we were awarded a generous grant from Awards for All to aid the development of the club and its players. This has enabled us to employ a qualified netball coach as well as the purchase of equipment and kit for the club.
1 team entered Manchester Evening Netball League (MENL), 2 teams entered Reddish League
2007
In March 2007 we held a Beginners Umpiring Course for our players which allowed 15 of our players to gain a foundation for acheiving their C-award badge
In June 2007 we hosted our first Summer Netball Tournament held at the Velodrome, Manchester. With 14 teams entering, the day was a great success and we hope to make this an annual event.
We held a C-award course in July 2007 to enable players from both our club and clubs throughout Manchester to become qualified umpires.
In September 2007 we entered our 1st and 2nd team into the Manchester Evening League with our 3rd and newly developed 4th team playing in the Reddish League.
2008
In March 2008 our 1st team had won their division in the Manchester Evening League on points difference and so moved up to Division 7 for the 2008/9 season.
In June 2008 we held our 2nd Summer Netball Tournament at the Velodrome which was an improvement on the year before and another success.
During the Summer of 2008, Venus Netball Club held their first ever Mixed Netball League with 12 teams entering. this was a huge success with the men enjoying it just as much as the women.
During our annual trip to Pontins Prestatyn, our teams did really well with our 1st team reaching the quarter-finals of Cup competition.
In September 2008 we entered 3 teams into the MENL, our 1st team in Division 7 with our 2nd and 3rd teams in Division 8.
2009
In March 2009 our 1st team won Division 7 so will move up to division 6 this year. Our 2nd team came runners up in Division 8 so will also move up to Division 7.
We are holding our second Mixed League during the Summer of 2009
